Kaltura Bug

Postby bandit on Sun Aug 03, 2008 12:46 pm

I have only had one issue with the plugin but I am not sure if it is the plugin or Wordpress. Sometimes I try to upload a plugin and I get an error message the path can't be found even though I know a video is there. As soon as it happens to me again I will post the exact error.

You said that you upload a plugin and get an error message but then you mentioned a video, so I couldn't understand your issue correctly.

It would be great if you could post the error message you are getting and also some screenshots...

Sorry I meant to say while uploading a video. It doesn't happen all the time but I did get an error this morning trying to add a youtube video. I am going to attach the error. The error was "not supported" but it does support linking to youtube videos. After I got the error the interactive window goes blank. I exited the window and then went back to my site and the video was there. I could then go in to "interactive videos" and attach it to my post.

Thanks,

it seems you are using IE7 (Correct me if I'm wrong).
Can you please copy and post all the details in the error so I can try and regenerate it ?

Certainly, I will try to upload a video today and hopefully the error will occur. It doesn't happen all the time and it seems it happens most when the Blog is slow (and the video plugin will slow it down if you have many video's on one page). I am using IE7 also.

bandit,
do you get the error when uploading from the admin interface or from the blog itself? (using the buttons on the video)

From the Admin interface. I haven't gotten errors from the Blog interface but I haven't tried to upload from there.

I think it might be something with the animation of the window we are doing to change its size.

1. Do you see the animation when finishing the "Add Interactive Video" screen?
2. Do you see the error when you are in the "Browse Interactive Video" screen?

I tried it again this morning and went to upload a Youtube video. I went through all the steps fine including, "I agree to the terms." Then I saw the next screen where it ask me to title the video. I put in the title and clicked next and the screen went blank white. It seems to give me the errors at that point. Usually that is when it gives the error or just goes white. If I go back to "add interactive video" I can see that screen again. If I then click back to "browse interactive video" it shows me the video and asks me to add the title. If I click next it goes to a white screen or errors again. Usually if I exit the utility and go to "Manage" and then "Interactive Video Library" in Wordpress the video is there.

Here is the error I got this morning.

Line: 86
Char:4
Error: Object doesn't support this property
Code: 0
URL: gives a long URL that I can't copy because it won't let me copy and paste in the debug screen box.

Hopefully this will help you determine what is going on. Kaltura is the only method I can use to add a video to my Blog. If I try to add it using the add video button in Wordpress it doesn't work. I don't know if this is an installation error or a Worpress bug, however Kaltura works great when it works. Most of the time I manage to get the video into the Blog but sometimes it takes a long time and plenty of patience.

Thanks Bandit,

We'll try to reproduce this using other enviroments, because it doesn't happen in the tests we did before releasing the plugin...

I'll keep you posted if we'll find something or fix it
